Amidst the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Hydro One is standing up for its customers.

As Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution provider, Hydro One plays a crucial role in powering hospitals, homes, grocery stores, and essential services in Ontario. While ensuring that it’s keeping the lights on, Hydro One has continued to offer relief and flexibility to support its customers affected by COVID-19.

With the swift introduction of a Pandemic Relief Fund, Hydro One is offering financial assistance and payment flexibility to customers experiencing hardship during this unprecedented time. The utility also announced that it’ll temporarily suspend late payment fees and return about $5 million in security deposits to approximately 4,000 businesses across the province.

“Our customers need us now more than ever,” says Mark Poweska, President and CEO of Hydro One. “We want our customers to know that we’re here to support them.”

Hydro One has also been working with industry partners and the government to champion the needs of its customers. The utility applauded the Government of Ontario’s temporary relief from on-peak Time-of-Use pricing on March 24, to lighten the burden on people staying at home to slow the spread of COVID-19.

With the situation changing minute by minute, Hydro One is focused on its critical role during this pandemic: powering Ontario and supporting its customers during these unprecedented times.
